TEENS AND CYBER BULLYING
What is cyber bulling? Bullying is the use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending them messages of a threatening nature. Young people are using the internet more than ever. Over the last decade, we have surveyed nearly 15,000 middle and high school students in 10 different studies from over 97 different schools throughout the United States. Lot of children are getting bullied through the internet social network apps, lots of them don’t understand what they are going through is a type of form called bullying. Though cyber bullying has become unfortunately common there are some ways that kids, parents and other concerned adults can help prevent or stop cyber bullying. One of the biggest causes of death is cyber bullying.
The Impact of bullying today the research shows that bullying has significant short and long term effects that can effect on education, health and safety. Education can negatively impact on the child by not wanting to attend school anymore can cause an increase in drop outs for the districts. Their health can lead to 2 problems mental and physical problems which can include sleeping problems, depression low self-esteem and stress. Safety students sense of well-being such as self-harm and retaliation. Today issued guidance to schools reminding them that bullying is wrong and must not be tolerated including against America’s 6.5 million students with disabilities. Parents, educators, and other adults are the most important advocates that a student with disabilities can have. It is important that adults know the best way to talk with someone in a bullying situation. Some can talk to adults and older people about personal matter but other cant and they just leave it until then commit suicide which is very sad. Bullying can also be considered harassment when its based on a student’s race, color, sex. Harrsing behaviors can include unwelcome conduct such as verbal abuse name calling threats physical assaults.
There are a lot of ways to prevent cyber bullying is for parents to be aware what their kids are doing online Know the sites your kids visit and their online activities. Ask where they’re going, what they’re doing, and who they’re doing it with. Tell your kids that as a responsible parent you may review their online communications if you think there is reason for concern. Installing parental control filtering software or monitoring programs are one option for monitoring your child’s online behavior, but do not rely solely on these tools. Have a sense of what they do online and in texts. Learn about the sites they like. Try out the devices they use. Ask for their passwords, but tell them you’ll only use them in case of emergency. Ask to “friend” or “follow” your kids on social media sites or ask another trusted adult to do so. Encourage your kids to tell you immediately if they, or someone they know, is being cyberbullied. Explain that you will not take away their computers or cell phones if they confide in you about a problem they are having. Report cyber bullying Keep evidence of cyberbullying. Record the dates, times, and descriptions of instances when cyberbullying has occurred. Save and print screenshots, emails, and text messages. Use this evidence to report cyberbullying to web and cell phone service providers. Block the person who is cyberbullying
Some types of physical bullying the most obvious form of bullying. It occurs when kids use physical actions to gain power and control over their targets. most likely what people think of when they think of bullying. Verbal bullying Perpetrators of verbal bullying use words, statements and name-calling to gain power and control over a target. Typically, verbal bullies will use relentless insults to belittle, demean and hurt another person. often very difficult to identify because attacks almost always occur when adults aren’t around. As a result, it is often one person’s word against another person’s word.sexual bullying consists of repeated, harmful and humiliating actions that target a person sexually. Examples include sexual name-calling, crude comments, vulgar gestures, uninvited touching, sexual propositioning and pornographic materials. Girls are often the targets of sexual bullying both by boys and by other girls. Boys might touch them inappropriately, make crude comments about their bodies or proposition them. Prejudicial Bullying based on prejudices tweens and teens have toward people of different races, religions or sexual orientation. When prejudicial bullying occurs, kids are targeting others who are different from them and singling them out.
In conclusion bullying is not okay its wrong very dangerous it never makes you look popular by doing something wrong You always have a choice. Be the person that is smart enough and confident enough to be friends with everyone you meet. By doing so, you're sending the message that you're self-assured enough not to care what others may think.
How would you feel if you were in the position of getting bullied? Just don’t do it there is no use of it.
